Sebla Kutluay, PhD

Assistant Professor, Molecular Microbiology, School of Medicine

Human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1)/AIDS remains a major global health problem. Dr. Kutluay’s research focuses on the basic molecular biology of how HIV-1 replication is regulated by host and viral RNA-binding proteins and targeting these interactions so as to block HIV-1 replication in infected cells. Her research has contributed to the discovery of an enzyme currently in clinical trials.
